About Developing Coffee

Why Developing Coffee?

Canada has an extraordinary community of independent coffee roasters — people who have dedicated their craft to sourcing responsibly, roasting with care, and building something that goes beyond a morning routine. The problem? Most of them are hard to find unless you already know where to look.
Developing Coffee was built to change that. We’re a curated online platform bringing together Canada’s best small-batch roasters under one roof, making it easier than ever for home brewers and coffee enthusiasts to discover brands that are doing things the right way.

What we stand for

We believe coffee is more than a commodity. Every bag we carry represents a roaster who has poured genuine skill and intention into their product — from sourcing green beans to the final roast profile. Our roster is exclusively Canadian, exclusively independent, and exclusively small-batch. No mass-market blends, no compromise on craft.

We also believe that buying great coffee should come with the knowledge to brew it well. Every product on our site is backed by SCAA-standard brew guides so you can get the most out of every bag you buy, no matter what method you prefer.

Brands we trust

We’re proud to partner with five distinct Canadian roasters, each with their own identity, values, and approach to the craft:

•        CuppaJoe — 25 years of trusted micro-roasting in Vancouver, hand-roasting small batches on traditional drum roasters for consistently balanced, sweet, and reliable coffee.

•        Kafka’s Coffee — A Vancouver institution rooted in Mount Pleasant since 2010, roasting single-origin and seasonal coffees with deep respect for farmer relationships and full-process transparency.

•        Breakout Coffee Co. — Bold, purpose-driven coffee with a charitable heart. $1 from every bag goes to Hockey Helps the Homeless, supporting food-insecure and precariously housed Canadians.

•        Kooky Koffee — Direct-trade Kenyan specialty coffee with a 5% revenue-share model that puts money back into the hands of the farmers of Kirinyaga who grow it.

•        OuiSip — Inspired by French coffee culture and the art of slowing down. Simple, smooth, and approachable coffee designed to fit naturally into your everyday ritual.

Built for the home barista

Whether you’re pulling shots on a home espresso machine, pressing your morning French press, or pouring over on a weekend morning, Developing Coffee is your source for coffees and knowledge that match your setup. We’re not here to gatekeep specialty coffee — we’re here to make it accessible, enjoyable, and a little more personal.
